6. Area of nationally developed curriculum is Studies of Society and Environment level three with the strand, natural systems;3.13 : Describes an example of a cycle within natural systems and the place of people in it. Evident with students, for example ; Draw a diagram to show examples of plants and animals linked by a food chain. The student outcome for 3.13 : Describes an example of a cycle of systems.

 

7. Off computer activities related to the topic: Art activity, Drama, Story-picture book reading, Group discusions, outdoor activities, trip to museum, trip to library and project for futher learning. The use of wall posters, guest speakers, photos and any appropriate videos and t.v. documentaries

8. Computer based activities: Rostered use of computer, working in pairs, working with worksheets, using computer for enhancing operations skills ie, mouse skills, on screen skills, keyboard skills, further learning from within program, scanning screen images for pictures for future art activity, reading of text for students future essay writing, esteem building by developing independent computer usage and competence, decision making eg, research and design. All computer based activities will stimulate interaction with peers, teachers and parents in the computering environment. Children will gain good operation skills from this wonderful package.

 

9. Classroom management and evaluation strategies: Classroom management is in the form of location of the computer ie, out of direct sunlight, ergonomic seating, computer centre in full view of teacher, removed from direct noise contact of other students, away from contact from water, rostered useage, working in pairs, working through software with worksheet provided by teacher and not in main thorough fare of room traffic. Evaluation of learning taking place is in the form of the completion of worksheets that have been designed for students to have participated in the complete program. Evaluation will take place whilst students are working through the software. When children enter into further activities their knowledge will be assessed by the amount of material displayed ie, in art, in projects, in essay writing, in design of wall posters and with interaction with guest speakers.
