Off Computer Based Activites 1:

Write a story from the point of view of your creature whose environment is being destroyed/polluted. Include; who you are, how you feel, who you see, what you do, what you think or wish could be done to save your home.

Type up your finished copy on Microsoft Word, ready for classroom display.

Computer Based Activity 2:

In pairs choose two Dangerous Creatures which you feel are reasonably different and that you know little about. Write down points such as what makes the creature dangerous, how you can avoid dangerous situations, what they look like, their statistics etc.

Off Computer Activities 2:

Design a group poster conveying your newly found information in a way that will be easily accessable for your peers. Also you are to create (in your pair) a game, similar to those on the Slide Show option of the program, based on a useful bit of knowledge to do with one of your creatures. There are no limits to the way in which you present your work.

Classroom Management:

A roster for computer use has been drawn up along with a list a concerning the number of colour copy print outs children are allowed to get which they are to mark off as they go. The computer is situated in an alcove away from the eyes of those not working on it. Also to reduce distraction headphones are provided. Children are all aware of the rules and responsibilities associated with the computer.

Evaluation Strategies:

The children's level of learning will be determined via assessment of their written work along with observation and questioning of them to gain a better insight into their depth of understanding.
