From the area of the national Outcome the level and strand is level 3 with the KITO being operations, with other learning outcomes resulting from areas of computing, mathematics and logic. Other KITOS that are acheived through this program would also be publishing and problem solving. Through this program all three of these outcomes will be strengthened and expanded. From this topic there are many 'off computer activities' that are related to this. Firstly maths is the fundamental subject that is linked to this. Children, before using the spreadsheets, will conduct surveys to record graphs to receive their answers, or they will have several calculations given to them, then they will work out their calculations manually before compairing them to their answers from the software. The answers from the survey, once printed in a chart from the spreadsheet system can be placed in the school newspaper or news letter so it links in with English as well. Once children have used the program and have their answers they will write short paragraphs justifying why they believe the answers or results of the survey are as they were. Computer based activities relating to the topic, as suggested above are the recording of numerical information and calculations, using specific formulas, from the spreadsheet system. Classroom management for this topic is very simple. If the surveys are completed in groups, each group will be given roughly 30 minutes during the day while the rest of the class are completing other work which they will also have the opportunity to do. If they are done independently, then they will follow the computer chart displayed during the class. Each student is permitted 15 minutes on the computer during the week. Evaluation strategies are also straight forward. The teacher will require a print out of the claculation answers and formular strategies as well as previous manual calculations to see if children are using the program correctly, or if they are manually typing in the answers instead of using the formulars. The written paragraph is also an effective evaluation as it shows the teacher that the children understand why and how survey answers can vary.
