Software evaluation
Identification of software (title, publisher or URL, author), system requirements (processor, RAM, HDD, peripherals, OS) The piece of software that I am evaluating is Adoke Super Paint Alias in G1-2 classrooms. The program can only be run on a Macintosh computers.
Value judgement (price/registration fee versus educational worth), ease of use (your own impression, what features made it easy to use, how was it to install) The price of the software is $98.00 . In comparison with other programs , this is quite a reasonable price . The educational worth of this program out weighs the cost , as it is a great asset in introducing young children to information technology and publishing . Children can practice operating computers in a simple and relatable way . Drawing shapes and using colours interests children , and at the same time teaches them simple computing and publishing skills .

My own impression of this piece of software is that it is an easy to use program that creates a sophisticated result . There is a large range of colours and effects that can be created , which are also appealing to the children , and gives them pride in the work they publish .

Documentation accompanying (operating instructions, help system, student worksheets), Framework nature (to what degree does the program permit you to change content etc) The Adoke SuperPaint Program is accompanied by a help system . The help system incorporates Help Balloons which when positioned and clicked onto the area you want help on , information about the function is revealed .

The frame work nature allows you to draw any tye of picture that can be published .

Description of operation of software, illustrated with screen-shots. Quality of web-pages, including appropriate backgrounds. The operation of this software is very simple .The tools are laid out around the top and sides of the canvas , which makes it easy to view what is available . All you need to do to use the tools , is select the one you want and click on it. You then move the mouse to the canvas and draw .To select a colour , you click on the colour pallet , which displays the colour available. You then select your colour , and click on O.K.

To operate drawing shapes etc. you position the mouse on the canvas , and move it outward , until it is the size you want .

Other functions available , such as spraypaint and patterns and operated in the same way .

Keen observation of someone else using the software, ideally from the target student group, highlighting differences between your expectations and the student's responses. I observed my younger cousin of 7 years old , operating this software . She , like I would have expected was very impressed with the result of the work she did .She was also very adventurous in wanting to explore all the different tools . I expected her to have a bit more control when operating the functions of drawing , however , as she practiced controlling the mouse , she gained more control . When the result of her work was published , she was very impressed and proud at the way her work had turned out .
