It's educational worth is justifiable as I cosider this software
to be of great educational value. It may be used at all levels in the Grade 1-2
Independent learning KITO mode.
Ease of use
Install:
To set it up on a school computer is very simple, providing the right system requirements have been met. It needs to be installed on the hard drive. This process is simply a matter of following some simple instructions on the screen.
Features:
The program has a simple Help menu leading from the main 'Help' screen to the different areas one might need some help with.
All buttons are big and easy to see during the entire game, with the option of returning to the Main menu any time.
A child in Kito level 1 should be quite capable of finding it's
way around the different screens.
Documentation
A student worksheet book is available at the price of $20.00, which provides the children with shetts to work through so that they are not just 'playing' the games at all times, but that they are actually working their way through lessons.
It also comes with a User's manual. This documenatation is very detailed, interesting and easy to follow.
Also as a registered user Hooper's Multimedia will provide free
technical support with links to the internet, a 1800 phone number and an E-mail
address.
Frame work nature
The program does not allow you to change the content but gives you the option to create your own word lists or amend current lists. It has 138 wordlists inbuilt.
The user manual (page 6) describes the contents of these lists
and how they are divided amongst different type of words.
Description of software operation, illustrated with screen
shots.

From this page the child can easily find his/her wasy around the
different games available. Al he/she has to do is follow the verbal instructions
given.
Observation
I observed Scott who is 7.5 yrs old. He is currently a grade 2 student. He thoroughly enjoyed using this package, and was keen to work his way through all the different games. After some simple instructions he coped easily on his own. His responses were up to my expectation. I did however think that maybe the funny animated cartoon sequences, that the characters made when a mistake was made, would encourage him to make mistakes on purpose. However the reward system overcome this problem, as he was eager to gain points which he could spend at the shops.
Eventhough Scoot has some difficulties with his spelling he was
still eager to do the games, which surprised me.
